Assistant Technical Designer

We are seeking:
A full-time Assistant Technical Designer with a passion for fashion and a strong understanding of garment construction, fit, grading, and technical specifications to help ensure our products meet The Mint’s standards for fit, quality, and construction.
The successful candidate has an eye for fit and proportion, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to translate design concepts into accurate technical specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine technical specifications for womens and girls apparel categories, ensuring accuracy in fit, construction, and measurements
- Collaborate with the Design and Production team to translate design and fit concepts into accurate technical packages
- Conduct fit sessions and make necessary adjustments to patterns, measurements, and specifications to achieve the desired fit and style
- Create and maintain graded size specifications, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all sizes
- Utilize Google Sheets to make adjustments to grading sheets and track modifications to sizing and specifications
- Conduct thorough quality inspections throughout the production process, identifying and addressing fit, measurement, and construction issues
- Communicate technical updates and fit changes clearly with internal teams and third-party vendors
- Provide additional support to the Buying team as needed to promote collaboration and continued growth

As our Assistant Technical Designer, you will work closely with our Buying, Design and Production teams to bring products from concept to production while ensuring technical specifications, fit, and construction meet The Mint’s standards.
In addition to passion, excellence and a do-what-it-takes attitude, we also have some specific qualifications that we are looking for in our Assistant Technical Designer:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Fashion Design, Apparel Production, or a related field.
- 1+ years’ experience as a technical designer
- Apparel industry experience
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fitting principles, and grading techniques.
- A keen eye for detail and precision in technical specifications and grading.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Highly organized with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to work independently while taking ownership of projects and responsibilities
- A proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to think critically and independently
- In-depth understanding of Shop the Mint brands and our customer demographics.
