Job Summary

A Marketing Intern at Thaddeus will experience hands-on training and apply relevant skills in creating social media and digital media initiatives to promote the organization’s presence within the community, attract resources and increase visibility for promotional activities of TRC. Thaddeus is looking for individuals interested in leveraging their passion for helping girls and women within the world of social media and marketing. The internship will provide the intern with the opportunity to learn and grow their craft in delivering and creating digital deliverables in a collaborative, business professional setting.    

Marketing Interns will receive direct supervision from the department assistant manager, and the department mentors.

This internship is unpaid, but eligible for academic or course credit if approved by your educational institution. 

Internships are yearlong appointments.

The intern is expected to work approximately 15 hours a week.

Attendance is required at a 2-hour long All Staff Meeting on Tuesdays at 10:00 AM PST and a 2-hour long department meeting on Thursdays at 10:00 AM PST.

Responsibilities and Duties

Community Engagement / Outreach (40%) 

Strategize action plans and create initiatives that align with organization’s marketing strategy which targets Thaddeus community populations  

Engage and educate the community about our organization and its goals through social media campaigns, community outreach and networking events  

Assist with day-to-day community engagement by responding to social media comments, participating in online community groups, hosting webinars, user-generated content campaigns, and local community initiatives 

Social Media Management (35%)  

Regularly create and publish high-quality, relevant content for Thaddeus according to the post schedule, on our website, Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms, with a focus on social activism  

Provide support for all social advertising campaigns (ideas, plans, performance), with an emphasis on account growth, while keeping the Executive Director updated on a regular basis  

Regularly check analytics within Meta Business, TikTok and other social media platforms, to monitor content performance and adjust as necessary 

Stay up-to-date with social media trends and current events assuring that Thaddeus content is relevant and aligns with that of the mission 

Implement a content calendar to manage and plan marketing campaigns  

Program Administration (20%) 

Collaborate with all relevant organization staff members to develop and execute promotional activities to enhance and grow organization’s brand and programs  

Participate in our Buddy system once assimilated and act as a mentor/point of contact for new interns transitioning into your team during their induction and onboarding process   

Participate in required and optional training opportunities, as available, including meeting with an assigned Marketing Mentor 

Other Duties As Assigned (5%) 

Qualifications

Required:   

Commitment to supporting and respecting Thaddeus’ Christian mission, values, and faith‑centered environment.

Active enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field (Senior or Graduate level) OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

Demonstrated confidentiality, dependability, and enthusiasm 

Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly 

Ability to analyze and understand disparate pieces of information from a variety of sources  

Excellent time management 

Demonstrated experience in working successfully with teams  

Ability to work independently with little instruction and a strong attention to detail  

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)  

Access to appropriate technology, internet connection and ability to function in a virtual capacity via Microsoft Teams  

 Preferred:   

Bilingual in English & Spanish 

Exposure to digital & social media marketing, and nonprofit work 

Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation tools (Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Photoshop, Facebook, Instagram, Next door, etc.).  

Basic knowledge of graphic design, website/content creation, or HTML a plus   

Work Environment

All activities for the Intern use remote access using Microsoft Teams. Interns are required to have a computer compatible with this software. Thaddeus makes every effort to hold group interactive group meetings to foster communications and teamwork using remote workspaces.  

Learning Objectives

Intern will learn how to develop the skills necessary to transition ideas into deliverable marketing content for businesses  

Intern will learn how to identify and analyze a target market  

Intern will learn to create viable marketing proposals aimed to grow the organization  

Intern will learn to create and publish social media and digital media content
