Crescent Academy is currently hiring for an Art Teacher for the upcoming 26/27 School Year.

Crescent Academy serves over 500 students at grade level PreK-11. We believe in the whole child approach which means that academy staff assists students and their families in bettering their outcomes by creating a college bound culture that expects and teaches strong character, academic achievement, and civic engagement.

Creativity and Innovative ideas about learning in the classroom

Enjoy challenges (social, economic) and addressing the whole child school of thought

Engaged in learning and curriculum coupled with cross curriculum teaching and learning.

Embracing a data driven mindset to help close achievement gaps

Working with collegial peers through Professional Learning Communities (PLC) to improve teaching and learning objectives in the classroom.

Using technology to support teaching and learning in the classroom.

Able to meet time sensitive tasks and deadlines

Possess great listening and writing skills

Persistent characteristics ( closing achievement gaps, and data driven)

Collaborating within a team and being pro-active

Conflict resolution (parents and students)

Empathy (students, parents, staff)

Building positive relationships with students and parents

Possess a great love for children and patience

Creating a strong bridge between school and home.

Working with underserved population of students

Embracing the philosophy of mindfulness techniques

Open to the use of restorative circles

Willing to adopt “Time to Teach” classroom management framework and application

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Art Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspire, motivate, and educate students in the field of visual arts while fostering a love for creativity and self-expression. The Art Teacher will develop and implement engaging lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles, promote artistic skills, and encourage students to explore various art forms and techniques.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

Teach a variety of art techniques and concepts using various mediums, including but not limited to drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.

Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.

Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.

Organize and facilitate student art exhibits, showcasing their work to the school community and promoting an appreciation for the arts.

Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.

Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.

Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students.

Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff.

Regular and predictable attendance.

Cognitive Demands:

Supervision of multiple students at once

Establishing routines and procedures

Maintaining a safe and orderly environment

Create and implement instructional plans

Participate in continuous professional development

Effective oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands:

Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs

Stand and walk frequently

Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat

Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year

Withstand a moderate noise level

Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary

Assist/lift students, as necessary

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Education, or a related field.

Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan with an endorsement in the subject.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.

Strong knowledge of art techniques, materials, and history.

A passion for arts education and a commitment to fostering creativity in young learners.
