About Miles Ahead Charter School

Miles Ahead Charter School is a tuition-free, public charter school authorized by the State Charter Schools Commission (SCSC) of Georgia serving grades K-5 in the 2025- 2026 academic year. As an SCSC authorized school, Miles Ahead operates as a Local Educational Authority (LEA) and has a statewide attendance zone. Miles Ahead is committed to providing an educational opportunity students may not have been afforded outside of their local options.

Mission of Miles Ahead Charter School

Miles Ahead Charter School (MACS) is an authorized tuition-free, public school focused on student growth and academic achievement through a whole child approach to education. Our mission is to provide all students with the social and academic skills necessary to help them realize their potential for local impact and global change within a 21st century learning environment. Therefore, our vision is to prepare scholars to be knowledgeable, responsible individuals ensuring we live in a compassionate, digital society.

Overview of Position

Teachers at MACS have the unique opportunity to implement our innovative curriculum by ensuring student growth and academic achievement on a daily basis. Teachers instruct Georgia’s Standards of Excellence (GSEs) while ensuring they are growing whole, healthy, happy people in 21st century classrooms. Teachers at MACS must:

Instructional Guide

● Deliver classroom instruction aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence.

● Experience collaborating as a co-teacher including planning, instructing, grading, and leading a classroom as a team teacher.

● Prepare, plan, and implement high-engaging, highly-effective lessons aligned to the best practices for co-teaching.

● Evaluate formative and summative assessments on an ongoing basis. ● Interpret both formative and summative assessments for data driven instruction on an ongoing basis.

● Differentiate instruction based on the needs of students within their classroom leveraging teacher teams to maximize instructor effectiveness and scholar learning.

● Complete progress monitor for MTSS and EIP purposes.

● Implement accommodations or modifications according to IEPs. ● Collaborate and plan with instructional team to ensure the greatest successes for all MACS scholars.

● Engage in meaningful professional development and learning sessions scheduled during all contractual hours.

● Communicate with families a minimum of once per week through various channels (including ParentSquare or email).

● Update grades on a weekly basis according to the MACS employee expectations and grading policies.

● Monitor ongoing academic, social, emotional, and behavior data to ensure a warm-welcoming environment.

● Administer all state or federally mandated assessments and/or accommodations with fidelity.

Whole Child Supports

● Create a warm-welcoming environment for all scholars by developing morning and afternoon Crew structures.

● Model MACS High Five Habits for scholars.

● Communicate to scholars alongside MACS High Five Habits to ensure positive behavior management techniques.

● Use appropriate digital platforms to monitor scholar well-being including Infinite Campus, LiveSchool, and ParentSquare.

● Complete all annual required trainings related to scholar safety and well being including neglect and abuse.

Data Driven Instructor

● Maintain accurate records related to student work samples, data, progress and development while at MACS.

● Evaluate and observe scholar performance and social-emotional well being.

● Ensure data drives all instructional decisions for Power Hour instructional time.

● Complete weekly collaborative planning meeting minutes related to effective instructional practices.

● Develop daily lessons geared towards student growth and academic mastery.

● Maintain individual scholar data binders as evidence of learning throughout the academic year (updated a minimum of once per month).

Communication

● Respond to family questions or requests within 24 hours.

● Complete weekly newsletter within ParentSquare.

● Host office hours for family visits and communication time. ● Offer parent-teacher conferences.

● Ensure all communication within MACS is aligned to the policies within the employee handbook.

MACS Employee

● Ensure compliance to all policies, procedures, and codes of conduct within the Employee Handbook.

● Promote joy and positive culture throughout the school.

● Model the MACS High Five Habits.

● Uphold the MACS vision to create whole, healthy, happy people ready for the 21st century for scholars and colleagues.

● Complete an annual evaluation on TKES.

● Maintain a Level 3 or better on all standards of TKES.

● Other duties as assigned by manager, Director of Academics and Culture or Executive Director.

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s Degree Required.

● Either hold a Georgia Teaching Certificate or be willing to start path towards certification (Provisional Certificate)

● Either hold or be willing to obtain a Gifted or ESOL endorsement ● Experience working with Elementary Aged Children

● Clear Criminal Background Check

● Authorized to Work in the United States

● Strong communication abilities

● Strong technical skills

● Exceptional Hiring Skill: Bilingual or Multilingual

Experiences:

● 1-2 years working in the elementary setting.

● Experience working in inclusive classrooms across at the elementary level. ● Interpreting IEPs and BIPs to ensure learning is maximized. ● Desire to continuously learn and increase effectiveness as a professional ● Unwavering commitment to MACS’s mission and willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of MACS scholars, families, and staff

Additional Information Compensation

We offer a competitive salary that depends on prior experience, as well as a benefits package. At MACS, educators are given a full day of planning as well as additional leadership and stipend opportunities where applicable.
