Success Stories

Coming into college as a pre-med Biology major was somewhat daunting when considering the long yet worthy process of preparing to apply to secondary schooling such as medical school. However, at Georgia Southern, the pre-med advisors/team were very helpful in guiding me and providing me with the right resources such as sharing volunteering opportunities along with one-on-one personal statement workshops, in an effort to help me be successful in my journey to becoming a physician.
-Maya B.

As a post-bac student, thanks to the Eagle Med program I was able to complete my pre-med coursework, study for the MCAT, and finish my primary AMCAS application in one year. I received academic advising, assistance with writing my personal statement, and referrals for clinical job opportunities. I also participated in a mock interview day with current med students. I highly encourage any students who are interested in applying to medical school to take advantage of these resources!
-Amanda R.

Embarking on the journey to medical school as a career changer posed a plethora of challenges, from taking all of the pre-med courses, to studying for the MCAT and finding shadowing opportunities. The resources at Georgia Southern were invaluable for helping me to navigate the process, as I was offered 1-on-1 opportunities with a mentor to go over my personal statement and further bolster my application. Additionally, Georgia Southern was helpful with reminding me of important deadlines for Georgia medical schools and helping to set up meet and greets with Georgia medical students and medical school deans and faculty members. I’m very grateful for the ample support that I was given on my journey!
